About Us

At Useful Art and Design, all pieces are accented with a painted theme, or a color scheme, that we can coordinate with the house or room that it will go in. Everything from faux, to marbeling, to sponging, and stenciling are used in the design process. Our pieces can be customized to a certain size and stylized theme.

We use a mix of locally sawn woods, and can keep to any budget by selecting the woods that would best fit the project. Most of the tools we use are hand tools, and each piece is made one at a time in our private studio located in the Beautiful Berkshires of western Massachusetts.

We use only the finest finishes, including pure tongue oil and stain products that help to enhance the wood and let it age naturally. Many finishes are also non toxic acrylic based finishes, which we primarily use on our childrens furniture.
